Cool Hand Luke and/or Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

The Sting is right up there too!

The Hustler was also good. Too many good movies with him in them!!

Cool Hand Luke, for many reasons.

Here's one:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/1fuDDqU6n4o&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/1fuDDqU6n4o&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

And of course, "No man can eat 50 eggs":

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/kNyl6gXLMLQ&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/kNyl6gXLMLQ&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

And who can forget the car wash?

"Luke, your dirt is in Boss Keane's ditch"

There were very few roles of Newman's I didn't enjoy, but his portrayal Frank Galvin in The Verdict was, IMO, the pinnacle of his acting career.

Okay, since many others are giving a prioritized list, here is my top 10, mostly in order of how well the movie showcased the man's talents AND how much I enjoyed the film:

1. Nobody's Fool

2. Absence of Malice

3. Slapshot

4. Cool Hand Luke

5. Road to Perdition

6. The Verdict

7. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

8. The Sting

9. The Hustler / The Color of Money (tie due to their tie-in)

10. Cars

SLAPSHOT. they brought their f$#%#&* toys. I loved the Hanson brothers. he will be missed, Cool hand luke was also great. You know you have a crappy team when you trade your skate sharpener for three players!!!!! I watched it last night.

The worst was "Judge Roy Bean" but it is sill watchable. I've seen it once and that was enough. Only dud I know of in his career!

Gary G,

I kind of liked the "The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean".

It didn't make my top 10, above, but then neither did "Fort Apache the Bronx", both both films are quite good, IMHO.
