You could have heard a pin drop

When in England, at a fairly large conference, Condi Rice was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of empire building' by George Bush.

She answered by saying, 'Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return.'

There was a conference in France where a number of international engineers were taking part, including French and American. During a break, one of the French engineers came back into the room saying 'Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he intended to do, bomb them?'

A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: 'Our carriers have three hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and from their flight deck. We have eleven such ships; how many does France have?'

A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included Admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies. At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large group of Officers that included personnel from most of those countries.

Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English.' He then asked, 'Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French?'

Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied 'Maybe it's because the Brits, Canadians, Aussies and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't have to speak German.'

AND THIS STORY FITS RIGHT IN WITH THE ABOVE...

Robert Whiting, an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane. At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry on. 'You have been to France before, monsieur?' the customs officer asked sarcastically. Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously. Then you should know enough to have your passport ready.'

The American said, ''The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it. 'Impossible. Americans always have to show your passports on arrival in France!'

The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained, ''Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find a single Frenchmen to show a passport to.'

You could have heard a pin drop.

Very interesting read...then this factual fact is out there...

The interviewer asks Bush about Iraq and his legacy and what he thinks it all means. Bush listens to the question with a very happy smile on his face, and says he had to keep the country safe, then quickly gets to:

Bush says...

One of the major theaters against al Qaeda turns out to have been Iraq. This is where al Qaeda said they were going to take their stand. This is where al Qaeda was hoping to take...

But the interviewer interrupts him with "But not until after the U.S. invaded."

Bush looks disoriented by the question, blinks his eyes repeatedly, semi-stammers and says vaguely,

Yeah... that's right. So what?

Maybe the message was so loud there is not room for silence.

I'm sure the 20 million Iraqis liberated by Bush from Saddams tyranny are upset as well...(sarcastic)

Even many Democrats finally admit Bush kept

America safe during his term.

It is a damn shame we can't read a good off topic like this one, without the damn Bush bashers imputing their garbage. For God sake get a life.

Sadly, Republican Derangement Syndrome and its variants, the Bush/Cheney/Palin Derangement Syndromes, are highly contagious, lifelong afflictions which are readily spread in the public schools.

But hey, that's OK. Liberals have been telling us for eight years that dissent is patriotic. So in the spirit of bipartisan unity, I call on all conservatives to be very patriotic for the next four years. ;)

Thanks for the compliments on the pic above.

I've been waiting for the opportunity to drag it out and show it.

I really like it too.

I'm a veteran of the Vietnam era and a proud American.

I like to show my pride every chance I get.

And yes, I fly my 4x6 flag atop my 30 foot flag pole in my front yard and have one proudly hanging in my drug store as well.

Bush had vision and forethought, and was able to get there before Al Quaida.

So we invade without warrant. you know like giving someone a ticket before they speed because they are driving a high horsepower car or the guy looking at another woman get divorce papers because his wife know he is going to cheat.

I got it. Never mind my previous post.

I pray to God that the next time I approach a traffic light and officer does not write me a ticket beacuse he knows I will run that red light.

I love to mow. (I know...I'm a sick puppy.)

I have 5+ acres and I mow it 61 inches at a time with my Grasshopper (the mother of all mowers, IMO) ;)
