I recently purchased a used factory sub and have the OEM wiring harness. I followed the steps in Kevins outstanding guide, but I get no sound from the sub when everything is connected.

I do have the connector in the passenger kick panel area and there is a fuse for a sub in the interior fuse box, which leads me to believe it should support it.

Can my factory stereo drive the factory sub?

If not, would the stereo out of this work?

BTW, I found a great video on how to remove the radio on YouTube:

After coming back and re-looking at my project and your radio, I am ALMOST certain that you need to have pins in the upper-right plug area of your radio.

I m doing some digging on my OLD computer as I know I have pictures o confirm this.

If someone has a picture please post it (Of a radio that does support the sub).

Thanks...

I think CoastieJoe is right on...I found a rather detailed radio guide (see link) for most/all Ford vehicles. According to the guide, page 28, my radio model does not support a subwoofer.

The 1L2F-18C815-MA and 3L2T-18C815-BD models do.

I shopped around on Crutchfield and am considering the following:

Per Crutchfield advisor, I would need the following to make it work with the factory sub: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_070XHD6430/Dual-XHD6430.html?search=XHD6430&skipvs=T

And to make it fit:

An easier alternate would be to try and find a compatible OEM unit at a local junk yard.

There is a TON of members that have pulled their radio and installed some sort of an After-market radio.

I am certain that a member will almost give you their radio.

That said, there is a bracket that should be used when shipping the OEM radio that has the 6-pack disk player. Without it, the radio is almost certain to not work properly when you receive it....
