The first 3 digits of an EAN bar code is the country the bar code was assigned



All bar codes that start with 690, 691, 692 through 695 are assigned to China. Hershey's moved their operation from PA to China, Cadberry is made in China (and was found to have unacceptable chemical substitutes recently), baby formulas, etc., etc.



China knows consumers are leery of products 'made in China' so, Chinese products (food, medicine, etc.) generally no longer show the country of manufacture.



One may now refer to the bar code, remember if the first 3 digits is 690-695 then it is most likely made in China .
