We have a 1968 F250 that has 16.5" wheels on it that we want to replace with 16's. We don't have a bunch of money to spend so we have been looking through the local pic-a-parts. We've found several sets of 8-lugs wheels but don't know what kind of vehicle they came off of so we don't know if they will fit or not.

Since we can't actually take the truck with us, is there any way that we can tell if the wheels that we want to buy will actually fit?

Since you have 8 lug wheels it will be easy to measure the bolt pattern. Just measure from one bolt hole to the hole opposite it. That will give the pattern. The 8 lug 6.50" bolt circle began in 1953 on F250's and in 1967 on F350's. Ford went to metric wheels in 1997 on F Series trucks. Dodge and Chevy also used the 8-6.5" but the Chevy center hub holes are too small for the Fords.
