Curious what everyone is paying for full coverage insurance? I have an 01 4x4 and $100/$250 deductibles and it is costing me almost $600 for a year! Seems high to me for a 10 year old trac? Thoughts? THANKS

Why do you have such low deductibles? They are driving up the cost of your insurance. Sure it's nice to have that low deductible but you actually pay more for it in the long run. I have 2 vehicles that I carry full coverage on, one is a 2010 Edge adn the other is a 2002 Dakota, both have a $750 deductible and I pay a little less than $900 a year combined, I also have my homeowners ins through them as well.

2008 ford escape

2003 nissan 350Z

2006 scion xb

$700.00 per year collectiable insurance with $500.00 deduct

1988 corvette 35th anniv. (replacement value 25K)

1988 fiero gt (replacement value 7.5k)

very true what 1tech states about such a low deductible. also, do you still need to carry collision?

on a side note, a must is under/unisured. this is very important coverage as it can be used to protect yourself from someone not having enough coverage.

Zero deductable comp and $250 deductable collision and 250K/500K/250K costs me $650 a year on my 2001 4x4 ST.

I'd love to pay what you guys are paying. I pay $2600 a year for 2 cars both with full coverage, 100/300/50

I pay two payments a year of $319.00 per payments. (this is for a fully loaded Buick Rainer which is worth more than the Trac)

BUT,,,

I carry double over the average coverage as I am a part owner of a business and did it to protect myself.

If i carry the NORMAL coverage with $500.00 deductibles, it lowers my payments buy a total of $200.00 per year.

2006 Mustang GT convertible

2008 Sport Trac limited

100k/300k/50k coverage

$250 deductables-collision

$100 deductable-comprehensive

$2388 per year. I so hate New Jersey for this mess. Especially when I see people paying 1/4 of what I do for the same coverage. Bob

I live in deer country and the trac is my only car (besides a classic) so full coverage is needed! If I go to $250/250 deductibles ir will drop to $534 a year. Mark k and I are similar, maybe its about average? Thanks for the comments!

Marsha,

I pay $436 every 6 months for a 2008 Mercedes and a 2002 Toyota Highlander. My insurance actually went down when I bought the Toyota because the rates were very high on the Mercedes.

A lot depends on where you live, how far you drive to work daily, driving record and the deductables. I do not carry full coverage on my Toyota...It's over 8 years old and not worth paying that much to insure it so I just carry liablity insurance on it and it is dirt cheap. Coupled with a 2 car discount and my rate is lower because I put twice the miles on the Toyota than I do the Mercedes and that's what's saving me money.

If your Old Sport Trac is not being financed, then I would drop the full coverage and just keep the liability insurance...That will drop your premiums by at least half, or more.

...Rich

2004 ST - $300 Full coverage every 6 months

1995 Ranger - $130 Liability Coverage every 6 months

1966 F100 - $95 Liability coverage every 6 months

When not in use, garage insurance is on for the other 6 months for the F100 and the Ranger, in which I pay $29 for the F100 and $38 for the Ranger for the other 6 months of Liability.

No deductable at all.

Not sure what deductable I have on the house, but $630 a year for insurance on it. Also I am using State Farm Insurance.

Like Bob C., I live in NJ - I laugh at your puny payments!

:bwahaha:

2005 Explorer

2010 Sport Trac

I live in Harris county, TX. Our rates are higher than the rest of the state.

I just paid USAA $319 for 6 months.

I carry full coverage $250-ded comp and collision. I carry one level above minimum liabilty, plus extra medical. Unisured and under insured motorist. Towing and labor. 10 day rental car at $40per day.

If I lived one county over my premium would drop almost $100...bummmer....

$737/yr on my '10 Limited. $0 deductibe comprehensive, $300 ded collision.

A wise insurance agent told me about the $0 comprehensive deductible years ago- that the average car gets a new windshield every 3 years and the added cost for $0 deductible would pay for itself. So far he has been right.

You fine Ladies and Gentlemen have made me feel rather envious - we in Ontario have been subjected to some wonderful rate increases under the current provincial government' watch... coupled with the de-listing and/or decreasing of our coverage (upwards of 50% decreases in injury/disability coverage).

2005 Sport Trac - 7 years no incidents or tickets. 1 Primary and one Secondary Driver

$1884 per year (full coverage), $1000 deductible, with no windshield coverage.

Thats after my "loyalty discount", for having been with the same insurer for 7 years.

Yeah, but you have that wonderful and very cheap socialized medicine that we don't quite have yet...

The 'socialized medicine' (we simply call it health care) is funded via our tax dollars - and I'm happy to both have it and to pay for it... Insurance on the other hand is mandated by law, then run by a series of private companies - many of whom lobby the hell out of the provincial government (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) in order to increase thier rates... citing "higher payouts" and "frivolous lawsuits", but they ARE NOT required to disclose thier actual costs, nor are they obligated to disclose the earnings of thier employees and/or management.

If it's mandated by provincial law, then the people forced to buy the product must have a say in how the company is run - ie. the ability to vote out the 'powers that be' every 4 years if they're making a mess of the system.

Provinces to the west (Alberta being a prime example) have provincially run insurance providers - thier rates are 70% lower than ours in Ontario (on average), and thier coverage is similar or better for the average rate-payer.

I am not a socialist by any stretch - my thoughts on the matter simply are: If it's a government madated service, then make it a government service - if it's a private sector service, then let the private companies compete... You can't have government intervention into the logistics behind a private enterprise (ie. I SHOULD be able to buy insirance from a company in the states, or western Canada, if it truly were a free market system).

Sorry about the rant - I think I need to stop reading about politics before I lose it... hahaha
