On my way home on Thursday of last week I was stopped at a red light when a young couple in a Mazda mini van pulled up next to me and honked the horn. I turned my head to the left and saw then rolling down their window. So I rolled my window down to find out they were lost and needed directions. I told them how to get to the hotel they were looking for. As I finished their light turned green so that they could make a left turn. Without thinking I took my foot off of the break and bang, rolled right into the car infront of me. Lucky for me I did not hit the gas yet. I got out of the car and walked up to the car I hit and as I passed the back of the car I noticed two small dents in the back of the other car where my tow hooks hit the bumper cover. At first the other driver did not want to move her car from the accident sceen but I was able to reasure her that I was not going to run and that we needed to move out of the travel lanes of the road so that we would not hold up traffic. We both called the police and then we waited and waited. We waited so long that I called my insurance company and gave them all the information about the accident and I was able to let the lady I hit talk to them as well. After this the Lady finaly figured out that I was not going to try and get over on her and we actually were able to talk on more friendly terms. She told me she was sorry about the way she was acting before and the reason was she was hit before and the person did not stop. About 10 mins later the police finally arrived and gave us each forms to fill out which were eventualy swapped between the two of us. The officer then went back to his car and drove off. I turned to the lady and apologised again then started putting all of my stuff that the police never looked at back in my Sport Trac and headed home.

The Sport Track did not have even on sctarch on it and the only damage to the other car was the bumper cover. This was my first accident ever since I got my license when I was 16 so hopefully I will have another 15 years without an accident.

haha, we've all done something like that before. lol, i remember something like this story happened to me and school mates on a field trip bus. We were parked in a lot next to a big truck with trailer. well lol, there were bunch of kids up near the bus drivers seat. and next thing u know, i told my friend the bus is moving and we're rolling backwards and my friend jumps up and says " you idiots knocked it out of gear and the bus is moving." lol the funny thing is, he didnt know the truck next to us was leaving lol it looked like the bus was rolling backwards lol

but yea, back to your story, i believe thats why most of the stop lights around here are starting to switch to when the turning lane is green the straight lane is green. and then on the opposite side its reversed. least you and the woman was fine, and of course, good thing the ST is still in great shape.

I got an even better one. I pulled my Trac in the driveway right behind my Escort GT. I had to move the Escort for something and I got right into it, fired it up, put it in reverse, and slamed right into my Trac.

Put a scratch on the escort and nothing on the Trac.

Boy did I feel stupid.

I had one of those distration accident in a cruiser. My only at fault accident (various vehicles of mine seem to keep getting hit in parking lots when I'm not there) I went out of dispatch to respond to a call (a non emergency call on a loud party). As I was getting into the car a lady in a car parked a couple spaces over rolled down her window to talk to me. I talked with her for a couple minutes and then went to leave. I had not realized that a car had pulled into the parking spot on my passenger side, it had been empty when I got into the cruiser. So I put it in reverse looked behind me went to back out and cut the wheel and went right into the side of the car next to me. It caused quite a bit of damage to both vehicles. From that day on I always back into a parking space when I can, this is what cops are supposed to do anyway and my collegues sure reminded me of that after my little accident. Most everyone will have atleast one of these type of accidents in their lives, many of them rear enders when they are gauking at something...like those girls seeling coffee.

Dont know which one is "better" I think they are all funny. I'm sure there are all kind of these stories out there.

Caymen's is better because he hit his own vehicle... I mean... the odds.

That's why I think it's better.

But to answer your question. "I got a better one" is used as a segway for Caymen's story... kinda like a strange attractor... something to catch your attention so you'll want to hear more.

Kinda like.. "I got a story for you!" or "You got hear this one!"

I guess I would have to agree with Mud as to why Caymen's is better and the reason for the use of the statement.

My wife backed out of our garage last fall & ran our brand new (just a couple months old at the time) Caliber into the ST. Because the Caliber is so small & the tires on the ST are so large & stick out so far there was no damage. The Dodge simply hit the tires of the ST. If not for that, I'm sure there would have been some kind of damage.

My wife has backed into every car I own with every car she has owned (we have been married 18 years, so that's quite a few). I have backed into one car (a friends Lexus) and scuffed the bumper. I rear-ended a guy sleeping at an on-ramp once (hey, he should have been moving....I was taking off, get out of the way). It happens. I had a 2000 Impala that was rear-ended 3 times. In all of these, nothing but scuffs and minor dings.

Wife and I were going on a picnic one Saturday when she got off work. I had

everything packed when she walked in the door. Grabbed basket (and wine),

headed out the door and into my S15 4x4 Jimmy (pre-Trac days). Fired her up,

into reverse and "Off We G.@%.2>3!, What the Sam Hill was that!".

Wife had parked black Cavalier right up behind black Jimmy, and in a hurry, I hadn't

noticed. No damage to Jimmy, thanks to hitch, but tore bumper cover on Cavalier

and knocked out head/parking lamp on the side swingaway spare tire bracket stuck

out of the Jimmy. Called insurance, told them the story, and they sent guy out to

look. He laughed the whole 5 minutes he was there estimating. Funny thing is, he says

that he sees the same thing at least several times a year, one spouse hitting anothers

vehicle!

The reason wife says she didn't say anything? She said she honestly didn't think I

was dumb enough to run over my own car in my own driveway!

All in all, no one hurt, and we both laugh about it everytime it's brought up.
