I drive my Sport Trac rarely as I usually drive my company van. I drove to Wal Mart and decided to lower the back window a bit. When I got home I tried to raise it and it wouldn't go up. I turned the knob to see if down still worked and of course it went down all the way. Now I can't get it up (no jokes) and it is supposed to rain. Any help appreciated. Email me at [email protected] please.

You might try this and see if it works. please reply if it worked._Ron

If it went down. I would think the motor is good. I would start by using a VOM and check the up side of the switch.

Eddie, jump in on the voltage meter. I will give it up to you and you are master. jack for a quick fix for the night, tape a trash bag over the window. Then by tomarrow you can start tracing in the daylight. I see the rain is geting to you now._Ron

If you dont have a voltmeter or experiance of how to use it. You can get a cheap 12volt test light. Pull the bezel around the radio and switches. Pull the switch out and test the contacts for power, when you turn it it both ways.

Have you checked the fuse? Maybe it popped.

The problem is not the motor or fuse.

This is an electronic problem within the motor. It's common on early model ST's. You'll have to replace the motor. I replaced mine and paid about $110 for it.

To close the window now, You will need to access the motor behind the passenger side access door and open a hole in the insulation. This should be perforated. I think the motor is held in by 3 bolts. Once removed, you can find something to insert and crank the window up. Put the motor back in to hold it up and disconnect the power lead so you don't accidentally open it again until you can replace it.

Hope this helps.

Phill, you might be right. But I would test a few things first. We have had a few members with blown fuse and bad switches. Testing things sometimes saves $$$$.

Here is the pages from the Manual on how to diagnose the problem..

Hope it helps

Just remember, when you remove power to the switchor motor, you have to do the reset proceedure.

FYI,

I left my window down once.

and it rained...aside from my seats

The sub got wet, the amp got wet.

I had to take the amp apart & dry it out.
