Allright, I am going to be starting a bunch of upgrades, but have noted in recent posts questions about total performance increase, and what not. So my question is, what HP increase and torque increase (range) I can see with the following upgrades:

Zabtech Cold Air intake

Zabtech Throttle Body

Magna-flow exhaust (what would be the best set up - singe or dual, CAT or ?)

Progammer chip

I looked at the yesterday on tirerack.com and the reviews were no very good. Claimed loss of gas mpg and various other issues. worth a read.

Thanks Rodger, Jerry I can assist you in a SCT X3programmer and custom tuning for your ST. email me

yea, I plan on getting the X3, can never remember just what to call it. And I was wondering what the boost in HP would be after all these upgrades? I hear 80 horses if I go super charger, but is that a good HP per Dollar option? Should I go one big step, or these small ones?

I would also get the bigger MAF, as you need a different tune with MAF.

I would say that you need to do all the little ones first in order to get all you can from the SC.

I would also go with the y-pipe and a cat-back, not just a muffler if your end goal is the SC.

That's what I'm doing. just ordered the R/T Y-pipe and will be ordering the ca-back shortly.

Do your intake and exhaust work first. Then get with Torrie to write your tunes for the xcal3 programer.

but don't install the MAF until you have the tuner.

The bigger MAF will totally throw off your ECU and the truck will not really be drivable.

Also I would recommend getting the Screaming Demon coil and LiveWires.

Get with Todd Z and almost everything can come from Zabtech, other then the Cat-back and Xcal3 or even the SCT LiveWire

No, it won't. When you're installing anything like a bigger MAF housing, intake, TB, or exhaust, all you have to do is disconnect the negative battery terminal for about 30 minutes to dump the settings in the ECU. This will force the ECU into "learning" mode when you fire up the truck after installing the mods, and it will re-calibrate the fuel/air settings to account for the new mods.

I installed the Zabteck CAI, TB, MAF, Screamin' Demon Coil, Livewires, and an aftermarket exhaust long before I ever got a tuner my Trac has always run like a top--no problems. I've had most of those mods for around 2-3 years, and only got an XCal 3 w/custom tunes just last fall.

I emailed Zabteck, Todd specifically as I am now ready to order my true cold air intake this morning, and no response yet. How long before they usually respond?

Hey Jerry, if you are going to need the saw and the arbor to cut the hole for the Cold Air Intake, I got one. Let me know if you are interested. Also look in Swap & Sell, it is there.

Sorry Todd, I dont mean to take business away from you, I just dont have any use for the saw or the arbor, so I want to save someone some money and free up some space in the garage.

Let me know JerryA,

Thanks,

George T.

I like my set up which includes a:

K&N 57 series intake

Zabteck throttle body

Thrush high flow muffler

XCal 3 tuner with 87, 91, and tweaked premium fuel performance tunes

RP motor oil

Amsoil ATF

This is pretty much the basic set up...although I wouldn't mind getting the coil pack and wires along with the y pipe...

Night and day difference over stock...improved gas mileage if you can control your foot, and you can feel torque and HP improvements in the seat of your pants, although the only way you would truly be able to truly see your gains is if you have your trac dynoed...

Ordered the Y-pipe this morning.

Will install and see what I think before ordering the Gibson cat-back.

Gibson is quoting 13HP and 20tq over stock. MagnaFlow is 10 for both.

But I'll wait and see how the y-pipe sound with my DynoMax UltaFlo muffler.

Will G-tech before and after, as I haven't yet witht he demon coil, LiveWires and XP103 installs.

Didn't want the weater air tothrow the numbers off.

But go with the whole intake and then see how it feels, then you can just replace the muffler, $100-120 an then tune it.

My .02 cent, and my past route taken.
