TPMS - 05 ST

I just spoke to a local tire and wheel company, and the guy mentioned the TPMS system in the 2005 Sport Trac. I read up on it in the posts here, and understand what it is.

He quoted me $99/each to get 4 new ones installed in the wheel/tire combo i am looking at or, $99/each to remove them from the factory tires and put them in the aftermarket ones I am thinking of getting.

My question is, is it easy to take out the TPMS sensor's out yourself? i can't see it to be worth $99 per tire!

He said by law, they can't let me leave without that being taken care of...

I don't believe the 2005 has the tire monitoring system, at least mine doesn't.

Are you sure the 05 has TPMS, I thought it started on the 07's...

I don't think the local tire company's info is accurate, TPMS started in the 2007 STs.

TPMS started in 2007 vehicles was my understanding and the '05 ST doesn't have TPMS. BTW..Discount Tire 80.00 changed over to new wheels. So that price is high anyways and you don't need them.

Just confirmed it - spoke to another guy at the shop and he said it was a mistake - TPMS does not apply to the 05 ST. Sorry for the confusion, and thanks for the help.

And here I was thinking that Ford forgot to put the TPM light in my 05 Premium.
