I know Ford sees red everytime they read the facts.... too bad they decided to quit competing in the passenger car market.

When the bone heads at Ford decided to use "Oval Fever" to design thier cars, they lost that title and has never regained them.

Idiots!!!

Tom

All the American manufactures got caught with their pants down when oil prices spiraled. They were putting everything into large SUV's .

Who cares about the camry....I dont....It has no style and bland...the toyata name has been over inflated for too many years....I dont care about how many of you praise the toyota you own or used to own....I can count just as many friends and family that will never buy another one, cause of problems, and cost of repair parts....Blah,Blah,Blah

My rant for the day!!!!! :p

major reason why i switched my fleet from ford focus wagons to toyota matrix.

other than dodge, the other domestics missed the boat !!

I wonder if the Board of Directors are happy at Ford? Since 2001, the new CEO, Bill Ford, really hasn't done anything except for the Mustang. Mustang will not save them. Chevy brand has finally out sold Ford in 2005. Domestic market share has dropped to 15.6% down 5% since Billy took over. Stock price in the 8.00 range down 50% since he took over.

They want to get back to the "Sub Compact" market with the new "Reflex" but it will take three years to launch it. Late to the game!

New Models:

500 - poor sales

Freestyle - poor sales

Focus - over priced for its class

Excursion - poor sales then discontinued

SVT Line Dropped. (Stupid, Stupid and I'll repeat it again Stupid mistake)

Ford GT - sorry I'd buy something else at that price and they have a lot of warranty issues.

Fast Eddie: Sometimes boring and bland are what sells. Granted the Camry is no style-setter, but it is dead solid reliable. We have plenty of these in our rental car fleet, and they have fewer maintenance issues than any other fleet vehicle we have. I've seen the maintenance records to prove it.

I rented one in Phoenix last Oct, drove it to Flagstaff and logged 40 mpg (4 cyl, auto tranny)!

I just bought an 06 fusion and I think it looks MUCH better than toyota and it handles like a dream I love it.!

Hey, Seattle Trac, just so you know, the Nasser was CEO when the design of the Mustang started. I worked for one of the suppliers and I was working on it already in 2000. So Bill Ford really can't even claim any credit for that.

My car is a Toyota Matrix. Tried the Focus Wagon & the Mazda 3. The Matrix was better and cost of ownership over 5 years is way less.

I bought my daughter the Mazda 3 5-door last year. Looked at the Matrix but the Mazda had more power, a better warranty (4 years) and more standard features then the Matrix. So far it's been a great vehicle. I love to drive it myself when she lets me.

I like the Fusion, I think they could of come up with better names than Fusion and Milan for the Mercury version.

Makin Trax - I'd be willing to give you free decals for your ride in exchange for high quality, high rez pics. I think the Fusion will sell. FocalJet.com has a section just on the Fusion.

http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=21819 check out these Fusions...

That fusion has some style and classy look....if I was looking for a sedan, that would be it...:D

Bill Ford has a long way to go to bring Ford back around. Nassar spent too much money on Jaguar and Volvo. He wanted Jaguar to compete with Mercedes and BMW. He did not invest enough money back into the Ford car line. That is one of the many reasons he was fired. Bill Ford is working hard to turn the company around.

Unfortunatly, there are still mistakes they are making. The Fusion should have came out before the Fivehundred. The Focus should be killed and replaced with something that looks better. Loof at the Civic. A very sharp looking car. It is a coupe. IMO, people want coupes more then they want an ugly hatchback. Make a Focus a sedan and a coupe. Add a real "performance" model. Something with a turbo. Look at the Cobalt SS or Neon SRT-4. Investment would be minimal with big paybacks. The secret is pricing it right. No need for an entry level car to cost over $14,000.00. Strip it down to start the price at 11,000 and they will sell like hotcakes. Ford sold the hell out of the Escorts when they had the "one price" pricing. the top selling small car was the Escort. The Focus has never achieved those numbers Ford got with the Escort.

The Ranger. There is a biggie. It was designed in 1812. Scheduled redesign in 2950. Comeone. I amready made my comments about the mistakes they made to the Sport Trac. The could have easilly took the current Explorer frome, modified the rear portion to suit a pick-up. Put a solid axle in it, and they have a base for a new Ranger and given what most people want in a Trac. The competition does not use an IRS on thier 4 door trucks. Nissan, Toyota, Dodge, and Chevy/GMC. I don't consider the Ridgeline a truck.

With the new Ranger platform, they can offer a V8. Something many Ranger owners would love to have. Give people what they want. Obviously people don't want a Ranger as it stands right now.

They got the F-150 right. They have some issues to fix, but it will come. I do think Ford needs to take the Diesel out of the LCF, and put it in the F-150. The only Diesel 1/2 ton truck on the market. With rising fuel costs, people would seriously consider one. I wwould guell gas mileage around 25 MPG with enough power to tow 10,000+ LBS. Something perfect for someone that tows a camper a few times a year, but doesn't want a 3/4 ton truck. It is a V6 diesel with 200 HP and 440 LB/FT torque. Perfect for a 1/2 ton truck. I would buy one. All the 4.5L Power Stroke is a 6.0 PS with 2 cylinders loped off. it is a win-win. The technology is already there. Why not use it?

The Lincoln LS was a hot looking car. As usual, Ford droped the ball. They did not market it right and over priced it.

They invested too much moeny into SUV's and forgot that people wanted cars too.

In the 90's, Ford had the Crown Vic, Taurus, Contour, Escort, and Festiva. By the year 2000, they had the Focus, limited Escort line (IIRC, the ZX2), Taurus, and Crown Vic. In the 1990's, they had 5 of the top 10 selling cars and trucks.

F-Series, Ranger, Explorer, Escort, and Taurus. Do they even have any vehicles in the top 10 now?

Money is tight. Chrysler used the K Car platform to bring them out of the slump they were in. Ford could do the same thing if they would get thier heads screwed on tight.

Q,

Very true with the Ranger. On the other hand, moving the Ranger to a modified Explorer platform, it would be no different then a Dodge Dakota with a V8. larger then the Ranger and all the automakers are moving up in size from the mini truck to a midsize truck.

I still say there is a merket for a Diesel F-150. The technology is there, why not use it? Let the consumer decide.

What Ford is doing right now isn't exactly working in thier favor.
