Tips for installing saddlebags?

I've got some leather saddlebags I am planning to install on my bike ('04 Kawasaki Mean Streak 1600). Anyone have any tips or experience installing saddlebags? I think I am going to go for permanent mounting instead of "throw-over" yoke mounting.

Gotta get some more hardware tonight. I think they are gonna look great and be quite secure. I got the large Saddleman bags that have the cutout for the shocks on the back.
