Yeah, someone's getting fired over that one LaRue. That could've seriously been a huge disaster, seeing that everyone involved are extremely lucky nothing worse happened and at JFK of all airports too, WTH !!!
 
The news has been reporting that most airports are not designed to handle such large jets as the AirBus A380. The plane has a wingspan of about 269 ft, and most airport taxi-ways are only about 75 ft wide plus there is even more congestion around the approaches to the gates.

I have seen the 380 at a few of the airports I travel to. It is a HUGE plane.....



The gate were all changed out to accept boarding ramps that are considerably larger, 2 floors (loading for up and downstairs), and in some case there are two for each side...
