I'll second the BF Goodrich Radial Long Trail T/A's. I just had a set put on about a month ago and they came out wayyyy less than I was willing to pay for a good set of tires. Very smooth and comfortable ride, $126 per, installed, balanced, road hazzard, lifetime balancing, and just about every other tire protection gimmick you can think of.
I dropped almost 700 on a nice set of tires which ended up getting shot to hell after 3 years thanks to bad roads, hardware falling off of other cars, road debris, elements, bad shocks, shot tie rods, lengthy parking, etc... Never thought a bad tire could feel so... well bad.
Didn't feel like dropping more money than needed on a tire that might be a bit better, just to have it take abuse for another 36K miles.
