Walter Cronkite died today,of cerebral vascular disease. It is impossible to imagine CBS News, journalism or indeed America without Walter Cronkite, CBS News president Sean McManus said in a statement. More than just the best and most trusted anchor in history, he guided America through our crises, tragedies and also our victories and greatest moments.

I have to agree._Ron

Sad that we have a generation or two now that has never heard (or should I say remember hearing) this guy deliver the news.

Just as sad to me is the fact that the whole "nightly news" vehicle is pretty much dead now; sad from a nostalgic POV.

Walter will be missed.
