It hadn't happened since May 7, but it happened again this morning. I'd just dropped off my daughter at school, and as I slowly pulled away, the sputtering began. I probably could have accelerated through it until it smoothed out, but I left my foot where it was for a second, and then eased off altogether to let it die. When I re-started, everything was fine.
CEL doesn't come on until the engine dies.
I'm beginning to wonder if it's bad gas. For once I filled up at the same place twice in a row, and both times the sputtering occurred the morning after fill-up. The place I filled up was Murphy USA (Wal-Mart's station). They blend 10% Ethanol into their gas.
