South West / Las Vegas Get Together, March 12, 2006

Hey all, I know I haven't owned a trac since August of 2005, but ya'll just such a nice group of peoples. Anyhow, GM and I already have our tickets for the NASCAR race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on the 12th of March, and if enough people are interested, we could try and put together a small mini meet either before or after the race.



Post here if you are interested in meeting somewhere for a get together. I think for the most part, we will keep it very simple, but I could always put some time into it and arrange for an event somewhere. You don't need to go to the NASCAR race to attend.[Broken External Image]:

Hey Jerry, Looks like my son & I are going. How do we get tickets, and do you have a recommendation for a place to stay? Not sure whether we will leave Fri. the 10th, but hopefully we can. Doesn't look like Georgia is going to go at this time.



p.s. Have to eat at the Hof Brau in the beer garden. They have excellent Baverian style food, and the beer is not bad either.

Rodger, I've seen a bunch of tickets available on ebay. That is where I ended up getting mine.



I took my wife out on a full package date night last summer. It included a meal at the HofBrau (sp?) house and a helicopter ride over the strip. The restaurant is pretty neat, but not really date type material, more like father and son or drinking buddy material. The helicopter ride was freaky. They shut down the rest of the helicopters right after we left because the winds were so severe. We were tossed around in that chopper like a kid was playing with it in his bedroom. Nothing like a choppy chopper ride after a big sausage dinner! mmrrphhh.



I think if enough people decide to attend, we should do something the afternoon of the 11th (Saturday) instead. Generally the NASCAR race would take up the entire day on the 12th, especially afterwards while you are trying to get home or back to the hotel. We could always meet up at the track as well. Look forward to seeing you there!

Check nascar.com as well...you never know, might some be last minute ticks availible! I will be there at the race too both days As Jerry said, Ebay is good place too.

OH Place to stay... I think, I'm staying in or out side of Boulder City. There reason for this, is it's easy access to the track. Year before last it was a breeze coming in from Boulder Hwy to Nellis! But If I can find a good deal in town, I'll do that too

I waited to long to buy tickets for the 12th; sold out. There are only package tickets left. Who's going both days?

I got 2 Grandstand 3day pkg tickets (10th, 11th & 12th) near turn 3. Staying at Econo Lodge

1150 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV for the 9 - 12 Mar. We're leaving after my son get off work on the 9th. Yeehaa

Rodger, which section is that, 4? I'm in section 4 and Sheila and Kelly are in section 2. Maybe we can all meet up sometime during the race? It doesn't sound like anybody else is interested in meeting in Vegas.



We could also meet at the NASCAR cafe at a certain time. That's a fun place, but might be crowded with all the NASCAR fans that will be in town. We can at least do the simulated NASCAR race have a beer or three and get a bite to eat. The cafe is in the Sahara casino.

Got a room at the Railroad Pass for 10th and 11th. It's further out from Vegas but not a bad drive into LVMS. I don't mind driving to where everyone wants to meet up at. Track Nascar Cafe. Rodge you still got my cell#? Jerry you do, right?

I gave my qualifying day tickets away so I'll be at Bucsh but would leave early if need be...Cup I am there early and all day :lol: See ya'll soon!



Jerry I think he is either section 5 or the back stretch near turn 3! Which is cool because there is usually much excitement on that back stretch on that turn as well!

We're up in turn 3. Only coming down for the 12th. But, should be there from about the time the gates open.

we live up in St. George so it is only about a 90 minute drive south from the house.

St George is a nice little town. I know right where it is! Been thru it many times coming from Denver to Vegas. See you at the track!

So where do you guys want to meet up? Should we meet somewhere before the race out in the fan zone? It might be difficult to find each other during the race, but we can pick a spot and meet up at a certain time. I'd hate to miss any of the race though. I'm thinking of possibly meeting at one of the trailers about an hour to hour and a half before the race starts?



Also, we could try and plan something Saturday afternoon/night at the NASCAR cafe. I'm game for about anything.

Extra twist in my plans but not a biggie, Dp's boss will be in Vegas Friday night and Sat night, but knowing the boss, he'll meet us anywhere he's pretty kewl.



What don't we all meet at the Nextel Experience place and get a group picture taken!?

It is located in the midway aka fan zone area.

Nascar cafe is good too, food and racing ...oh and cocktails ...er...I mean beer! ha ha!

Jerry, I emailed you his home and cell he and son are leaving this after noon and expect

to arrive in Vegas by 1 - 2 AM.



FYI LVMS emaild me..did you all get the email about the weather?



Rain is expected during the race weekend. *probably won't be much,*

but Bring rain gear just in case!



Happy Safe driving for all traveling from out of state! Leave you hotels and homes

early, traffic will worsen as you get closer to LVMS.



I am leaving Friday afternoon after I get off work.

I'll be at Rail Road Pass just outside Boulder City.
