I have been enjoying my Sirius Radio 'Free Service" for just over six months now. I was interested in purchasing a Lifetime Service Membership, but I understand they no longer offer this plan :(

I found this email while looking into getting the membership ......

Thank you for contacting SIRIUS regarding the Lifetime plan. We have

the information you need!

We are no longer offering the Lifetime plan as a subscription choice.

The last day to sign up for this plan was January 31, 2008. We

apologize for any disappointment.

Guess I'll have to sign up for their 6 mo, 18 mo, or 30 mo plan......I don't listen to reg radio anymore and hooked on the Sirius stations...

desert,

don't do anything until they cancell your subscription. i got 10 months out of mine until they shut it off. i called and they would not budge on any discounts , so i signed up for 3 months at a time. i also have xm and they were great as i went to renew my yearly subscription, i haggled and got them to give me the entire one year for $78.00.

this may have to do with the potential merger.

but now i use my xm for oppie & anothony and my sirius for the music ( first wave & the vault )

good luck

btw, i give a nod to ford for making sat radio very reasonable option compared to other manufactures. if i remember the sat radio option was $195, as other manufactures charge from $400-$600. imo, a very affordable excellent option :)

Thanks.....It's been just over six months since I bought my truck..end of June....just got a letter from them today regarding new subscription offers....I'll just wait till they do shut it off and decide if I want to renew their service.

Their offer right now is 6 mo's for 51.80, 18 for 181.30 and 30 for 310.80....

Looks like you got a really good deal with XM for a year at 78 :)

yea i would wait. i think there are others out ther that have received it longer than i. what the heck, enjoy the free ride.

i was a current customer with xm for two years and i told them i was dropping service and thats when they sent me to a "specialist" who offered me the half off price. just have to haggle. some say i am good at that

I was curious and called Sirius. The service rep said you can still buy the lifetime subscription for $499. It was $399. maybe that was what ended at the end of January.

One thing to be aware of is that automotive receivers are generally not transferable where plug and play units are. The text below is from the Sirius terms and conditions.

4. Right to Transfer a Subscription: Satellite Radio Service Subscriptions (other than lifetime Subscriptions) are transferable from one Receiver to another. A LIFETIME SATELLITE RADIO SUBSCRIPTION (WHICH IS A SUBSCRIPTION THAT CONTINUES FOR THE LIFE OF THE RECEIVER) IS NOT TRANSFERABLE IF IT IS ASSOCIATED WITH A RECEIVER INSTALLED BY AN AUTOMAKER OR AN AUTOMOTIVE DEALER IN A VEHICLE, EXCEPT IN THE EVENT THE ORIGINAL RECEIVER ASSOCIATED WITH THAT LIFETIME SATELLITE RADIO SUBSCRIPTION IS STOLEN, ACCIDENTALLY DAMAGED OR, IN OUR SOLE DISCRETION, IS DEFECTIVE. A LIFETIME SATELLITE RADIO SUBSCRIPTION ASSOCIATED WITH A HOME, PORTABLE OR PLUG & PLAY RECEIVER IS TRANSFERABLE FROM ONE RECEIVER TO ANOTHER RECEIVER, UP TO A MAXIMUM OF THREE TIMES. Permitted transfers of Satellite Radio Service Subscriptions are subject to a transfer fee, as set forth herein.

don't worry too much about the lifetime thing either. i have sirius, and that lifetime deal is only for the lifetime of the radio, not the person. They will let you switch that over one time to another unit, but then they charge you. i stick to the year, or 2 year plans.

Thanks for the info guys.....

I plan to keep my ST for several years, but you never know.....I think if I plan on keeping Sirus, I'll prob just go for the one year subscription plan

What I can't figure out is why the 6 month plan is the cheapest per month, if my math is right. Seems they would give a better deal for a longer commitment.

We have them in two of our vehicles. They have offered and I accepted for the second radio, (normally 6.99 a month), for $200.00 I get a life time on me, not the radio. They would NOT do it for the primary radio...

I love my Sirius radio, with rare exception, I almost never listen to the regular radio...

K, in my truck, I have many listening options. i have XM, Sirius, 6 CD changer, iPod, AM, FM, and HD Radio.

Honestly, I listen to HD 50% of the time, Sirius 25% (Football), and XM 25%.
