There was a TSB on this and I had mine fixed under warranty....no issues since
 
Just wait till that stupid little pin falls out of the shifter. Then you'll really love that crap Ford put in.
 
CopSTA......Any pics of where that little pin is so I can take a look see if there's a way to keep it where it's supposed to be?
 
No sorry, Its a small 1 inch black pin that becomes unglued and slides out horizontally. Its the one that, when it slides out, you can't take your key out of the ignition and your shifter doesn't lock into position.
 
The part causing your problem is called the park detect switch. It runs about $30 from Ford. Its under the console on the passenger side, it took me about 30 mins to replace it. I tried the TSB, but it expired in 2011. The part # was 9L2Z-7J437-B in case they have trouble finding it. Good Luck.
