Rev limiter?

I have an 04 ST and the other day I seemed to notice that when I press the gas in park it won't above 3000RPM and at 2700 it starts to cut out. Is this normal and I just haven't noticed or could the catilitic converter possibly be going bad of something else?

That is the rev limiter saving your engine from blowing. Totally normal.

I've never noticed it before for some reason and wasn't 100% sure bc there no redline on them

Part of the engine computer programming. It will redline if you are driving it but not when it is in Park or Neutral.
