is there a way to check online by VIN to determine if a recall on a used vehicle has already been repaired?

I think someone mentioned sometime ago that a dealer could tell you that, not sure tho...

You might want to ask the question to a service dept. rep at a dealer of the brand of vehicle you intend to buy...

I've had mine registered at myford owners site since I got it, and it tracks recalls for the vin. doesn't mention the ones that I had taken care of, and I never updated it.

I have checked for recalls on my 2004 Sport Trac and find none. Is that the case or does anyone know of any.

Dealers, as required by law, are supposed to repair all manufacturers recall-related defects/

items, "Secret Service" warranty repairs, updates to the PCM, etc...before they can resell

a vehicle to the general public. Whether they tell you, or not, depends on the integrity of

the dealer!;)
