Rebuilding Front End

[Larry Gamble]

The Trac is approaching 170,000 miles and I'm starting to hear a few clunks in the suspension.



Planning on changing:

Control Arms

Ball joints

Sway Bar end links

Tie Rod Ends



Any other suggestions?

I'm doing the same thing and have done alot of research on parts. I went through rockauto.com because you can't beat their prices.



I went with Raybestos Pro Grade parts. When you look for the driverside Upper Control Arm it won't be listed but they have it.

Im sure you know this. All Moog parts for suspension.

Some folks may have good experiance with some other brands.

My experiance ofover 40 yrs. Moog has beat everthing, for durability. I have ever used.

I just had all 4 new Moog balljoints installed a few weeks ago. The Moog problem solver uppers are the complete balljoint, control arm and bushings. And all the new Moog parts will have grease fittings. Any component I've replaced on any car I've put Moog on.

I agree with Brandon. Moog is a prefect choice. The uppers include everything.

Well, the Trac told me it's time to get this project started. The left tie rod end broke without warning this morning as I'm about to get on the freeway. :fire:



Entered the sweeping turn to accel and get on the freeway, there was a loud pop and suddenly the left front starts shaking madly. I was doing about 45mph at the time. Had to get AAA to get a truck to flat bed me home. :angry:
