Before everyone starts blasting away on the comments...LOL

Some US Military (Army), he's a customer, sent an email fowarding Porn Pics. He is sending them from his US.Army.Mil email address. I told him to remove me from the list and he just commented "LOL".

I'm sure his CO (right term?) wouldn't approve of this.

Actually, I'm amazed at all the military email addresses on the list.

It needs to be reported asap. That is abuse and falls under UCMJ. AKO accounts don't give a location, at least I don't think they do, but I'm sure someone else can lead you in the right direction for reporting.

Yeah, report the guy. I used to have a supply sergant who would do that all the time, they eventually wrote him up about it. Not a lot they can do without really messing up his career, which most places won't be willing to do, but they can at least make him stop. Eventually they will do something if he keeps it up.

If it is a customer of yours chances are it is a genuine email. As noted, it is a UMCJ (Militarily Code Of Justice) offense to use the computer for anything other than official purposes.

Like you, I would ask him to remove me from his mail list. Since he commented back "LOL" I would write back and explain to him that the email you use is also visited by either other employees, family or whatever and tell him that you can NOT accept that type of material and to remove you from his bang list.

I can them every so often myself. I email back and ask not to send me the email anymore.

SST

I also have a AKO account, what the fool is doing is a violation of the UCMJ(Uniform Code of Military Justice) and also a violation of the user agreement with the AKO. Send an e-mail to [email protected] and 'splain the problem and forward the offending e-mail.

crap like this needs to stop.

Y'all have a good one

Block his address from your email. Send him a email telling him you did so and not to send you anymore emails....ever. Some people never grow up:(

I would report him. Your child could have opened that email and seen whatever it is he sent. It is illegal to distribute pornography to an underage person.

Tom

Give the guy a second chance before you blow him into 'the authorities'.

Yes, I hate spam, forwarded 'send this to 19 people emails', and the like but it seems that this guy is new to the Internet and/or email and does not really get it and the protocols (to borrow from the no means no - remove me means remove me).

As CoastieJoe said - give him another email and tell him that you appreciate his business but you do not appreciate his emails of that sort.

NickC I really don't think you want this unless you prefer the same sex.

Anyways...he apologized after I sent an email to him based on Robert Poole's response.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Just make sure the guy's computer wasn't hacked/infected. There were some virii/worms out there that sent porn to every address in one's address book.

TJR,

From that quote, he knew what he was doing. It wasn't an "accident" of something out of his control.

Personally, I would report him.

Tom

Caymen, I couldn't tell what "LOL" meant as a reply to SST, in this context.

Maybe the guy thinks people getting porn is funny, or maybe he has been fighting the virus and laughs to himself that everyone in his address book was sent porn. I don't like to assume things.

I am sure SST wouldn't report the guy if he didn't think it was intentional...it's just I couldn't with certainty assume that was the case given what SST wrote.

TJR

It's simple report him to the admin folks listed in a previous post. It could be the tip of the iceberg that might reveal a more sinister problem once investigated.

Since it's a UCMJ violation, he's the one screwing his career; it's not you by reporting it. Every computer user in my organization has to sign a statement about proper use of gov't computers and that part is covered under "no not ever" section. He knows what he's doing and he's flaunting the rules. Bust him.

If they are on AKO, forward me there email and I will report them thru the AKO site and there command, the AKO website has a White Pages section where you can find out what Unit they are in. I am a SFC in the Army, so I can insure that there will be some results in his actions.
