Question for Gen1 owners with factory sub

For those of you who have the Pioneer system with factory sub. Since the back seat sits so close to the subwoofer grill, can hear bass with the seat back up, or do you have to fold the seat down to hear the bass?

I'm thinking about adding a sub, but need to have the seat in the upright position and do not want to do the expense with little return.

I've always had the seat up, and it still sounds good to me.

I took these 2 peices out. now with the seat up. The bass is not as muffled.
