The Magnuson-Moss Act prevents them from doing this.
Wrong. The M-M act says that you are not required to buy replacement parts from only the dealer. So, if the air filter gets clogged, you are not required to buy a motorcraft filter to keep your warranty. You can buy any filter you want, as long as it is built to OE Specs.
If they say the Purolator filter you used is causing a problem, they must proove it. Removing the airbox and replacing it with an intake like a K&N is not replacing the OE part with a like item.
On the other hand, if you put a supercharger on your engine, and the radio quitsw working, thewy can void the warranty on the engine, tranny, driveshaft, and rear differential, but they must fix the radio...or must prove the Supercharger caused the radio to fail.
The M-M Warranty Act does not give you a green light to do whatever you want to your vehicle. You are not required to run OE parts when you need to replace it. Alternator goes bad, you can put any brand of alternator that is a direct replacement for it. Plugs, and brand you like. Wires, air filter, fuel filter, shocks, springs, etc. as long as they meet or exceed OE specifications.
