Anyone had this code (P0442) pop on a Gen 2 ST with the V8 and have a specific cause? The description is: "Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small leak)"

They list the following:

- A loose or improperly affixed gas cap

- A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)

- A small leak/hole in a fuel vapor hose/tube

- Other small leak in EVAP system

- Faulty vent o-ring seal

The real point of this is to see if others have had it and if there is a common issue like the crack in the bend on the Gen 1s.

Thanks

No check fuel cap light? May be simple as removing the cap and repostioning the gasket.

Light should go of automatically after a short time. Hopefully you won't need a smoke test.

(From owners manual page 16) Check fuel cap: Illuminates when the fuel cap may not be properly installed. Continued driving with this light on may cause the Service engine soon warning light to come on. Refer to Fuel filler cap in the Maintenance and Specifications chapter.

Update: I reset the gas cap and cleared the code. After a day no return of the light.
