I recently had to have body repair and the left rear door speaker wasn't replace and body shop won't adem the repair so I took the door panel off to see what it looked like. It has a special connector which I assume has to be a Ford Speaker? I ordered one from Ford Parts sponser but something happened to the order but it was only 23 dollars. Do I have options since it is a special connector hook up? The thought of cutting the wires makes me cringe. The OEM sound is pently good enough for me.

BTW, a little rant. I grew up in the body shop business but after Dupont Imron paint nearly took my life, and then having someone slam the door shut with my finger between the door and fender:eek:, I left and got into aviation. I was expecting the body shop experience to be greatly improved since 25 years ago. It still sucks and the people in it still don't get it, "its about craftsmanship" and doing what you said you would. I am just glad I still have my fingers!

Contact your insurance company. If they are any good at all, the will contact the shop and INFORM them to finish the job properly or not to expect any more recommendations from them...

The shop should have absolutely tested the speaker as that is where the damage was.

Check out Crutchfield or do a search on here under my user name I think. I posted something about speaker/Head unit recommendation, one of the replies links to a webpage that has connectors that plug into the oem harness and let you use aftermarket speakers. This keeps you from having to cut into the harness.

I would go Coastie's route first but what I mentioned is a back up plan.

Don't even worry about cutting those funky connectors off. No other speaker on the planet other than from another similar Ford vehicle is going to use that thing anyway. Besides, most after-market speakers will most likely have substanitally better specs and performance anyway. At least it did for me, and I had the '02 AudioPhile system option.

Just go to sonicelectronix.com and scope-out a 6 x8 (or 5 x7 that fits the same opening)

You can buy these all over...
