O/D Off light blinking

My O/D Off light started blinking all of a sudden. The truck had a real hard time accelerating, though I know it was not a misfire. Now it is shifting hard to boot. I am a few hundred miles under 100k miles. Anyone have any words of encouragement other than, "you need a new tranny?"



I am hoping someone else may have had something similar and after going to the dealer, they found it was some wiring, or some clamp or some sensor that was less than a $2k tranny.

i Wish i did but my 96 probe did the same thing then started losing gears. good luck

Sorry to say this, but a blinking OD light is called the "OD blink of death"... Get it to a reputable tranny shop ASAP, and you might get away with $7-800. If you let it go very long, it will be a full rebuild.

It is at the dealer now. We'll see what they say. I don't trust any tranny shop, so dealer was my best option.

Tranny is trashed. Gonna have to get it replaced or rebuilt. Taking it to local shop with good reviews. Worst case $2300.
