at 114.9/ litre the yaris will take be further lolololol

i will look at the fit

I just found a yaris with11400 km for 13800 i can add a rakky spoiler, bug deflector, vents mag wheels rear bumper gaurd for another 2 g then it will be cute and :cool::cool:

Honda civic as an option? I looked at the Yaris when it 1st came out, and besides the fact that is was the 1st year in this country, I didn't really like the dash. That and the entire car just didn't feel solid. I liked the feel of the Echo better.( I bought a 2003 Civic...).

That being said, I have a friend who swears by his Yaris, and his wife likes it too. A little tight with a 3 and 5 yr old, but they claim the gas milage makes up for the smallish size... They also own a Liberty for longer trips.

One can't argue with the sucess, reliability, economy, comfort and resale value of the Honda Civic.

Not as quirky looking as the Yaris, but it's worth driving and considering, I guess.

keith,

no, it is not a van, it is a gen 1 scion XB. a 4door economy hatchback. for the money a great deal with traction control, mp3 , and other basic options. inside is actually larger than you would expect. despite it's appearance, it handles well.

mine is a 2006 and gets about 28 mpg. not near the yaris, but still good with plenty of room not to mention the toyota quality for econ box.

What is people with these micro cars? They are over priced and do not get as good mileage as some larger cars.

The Mini Cooper gets better mileage than a Honda Fit. Sad, sad, sad.

It is like the smart Fourtwo. The gas mileage is not as good as you expect it should. For the money they want for these little cars, get something bigger that costs the same, take a few MPG hit, and enjoy the extra room. Get something practical. Do the math. Add everything up. Spending $3,000 more to get an extra 1 MPG isn't going to save you a penny. It will cost you more.

Lets get this straight most people have 2 cars I love my trac and wont part with it but when it comes to running a 2 nd car I need a 50 mpg car vs a 30 mpg When I go any where long distance I take the trac but for a puddle jumper going around the metro part of life I don’t need a 30 mpg cruiser that’s why I have the trac it is my cruiser... So the whole point is it is good to have a cruiser and something that if fuel efficient and good for my pocket book … :lol::lol::p:p

What I am saying is how much are you spending to save on gas. I bet if you added it, getting a car that gets high 30's or a car that gets Low 40's wont save you anything on the bottom line.

A Yaris will not get you 50 MPG.

It's true that you will not get your money back if you are just buying a high MPG car just for that reason, but if you are looking for another car, and all you need is something small, then why not get one that will get good milage.

In my case, the ST is just below 100,000 miles, and I put 25-30,000 a year on a vehicle. In 2 years, I would be looking for a different truck, but I like the ST too much. So, I got a Civic with good reliability and good gas milage for around town to keep the miles off the ST.

I agree that the Yaris won't get 50 MPG though. My friend with the Yaris does get better MPG that I do, but not by that much... My Civic gets about 28 MPG city with winter gas and about 31 with summer gas. Highway is about 32 winter and 36 summer. With that, I'm happy. :)

Keith,

If you need a new car anyway don't let anyone discourage you from getting an economy car. Look at Edmunds TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) as a data point for any cars you are considering.

My wife and I did a BOLD MOVE by dumping the ST last spring in favor of a new Ford Focus. We use that car now whenever we can. It gets just over 30mpg around town, whereas the ST only got about 14. It freed up some cash for us each month as I was still paying on the ST at the time; and I did the math and in the long run I will be big money ahead vs. if I kept the ST.

Of course, I miss the ST just about every day. But I'm still glad I made the move. My youngest son has allergies and my wife recently diagnosed with a condition that has them both going to the doctor's once each week. Two co-pays/week of $35 each equates to $280 to $350 each month that we never planned on. That's another car payment. Just when you think you are getting ahead...(too bad our Flex Spending account is maxed out already for the year)...
