My dad was drafted into the army when he was fresh outta high school to go to nam. He was in the army for 21yrs I believe and had wrote a list and got a single postcard (or memento) from every place he had been stationed or sent and kept it in a box at my grandparents house. I wish I could remember everywhere he went but I believe it was over 300 places all over the world.

One place I always hear him talk about is when he was stationed in Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm and he got to install satellite systems into one of the palaces of the Prince himself and he said it was the most amazing place he had ever seen and the Prince had dinner made for his whole crew and posed for pictures and gave them a tour of the place (also he said the car garage was the most insane part of it all) even with everything he had he was the most polite and humble person he had met in his life.

My stint in the Army Reserves/National Guard (91-98) was uneventful:

Ft. Leonardwood, MO '91 - BT, AIT

Ft. Irwin CA - Annual Training (AT, 2-3 weeks)

Ft. Hunter Ligett CA - AT

Camp Roberts CA - AT

Somewhere in Panama - AT

Somewhere by Mexican border CA - AT

I wish I had gone Active Army instead of doing the weekend warrior thing. From my experience, part-timers tend to be an unmotivated bunch. I wish I got deployed for combat duty (for personal and naive reasons). I'm tempted to re-up.
