I have been using nero in the past to make DVD's from .avi files so I can watch them on my TV but I can usually only get about 700-800 MB onto a DVD disc (supposedly 4.7 GB) before it says that the disc is full.

Is there another way or a better program I can use to burn DVD's so that I might be able to fit bigger files onto the disc and still play it in a standard DVD player?

Thanks for any help.

I usually use Windows DVD Maker, which is included in Windows Vista and 7 Premium or higher. For files that it can't recognize, like MP4's, I use Roxio.

Nero won't shrink files. I have used Convert X and DVD Fab. Handbrake is a good freebie.
