Put a new Delco in my kids Eclipse 3 yrs ago, Batt dies, this is a batt that you never are supposed to maintain right?

So she gets it jumped, comes over to the house.

Car will not start, put the VOM on it, batt is at 9 volts.

Pull the two caps, batt is tottaly dry, jam a screwdiver inside and the plates are falling apart.

So much for maintaince free.

If the caps are removable I always check the level.....
