lower ball joints

Are the lower balljoints replaceable on a 01' 4x4. MY haynes manual says you have to buy the whole control arm. Ford sales the balljoints seperalty. So whats up ST peeps?

Haynes is WRONG!!!! I just replaced my lower ball joints only!!

Do your self a favor and rent the ball joint press makes life so much

easier...

You can get the lower separately, the uppers only come with the control arm. I have a set of lowers sitting in my room right now, so I know they come separate.

i replaced upper and lower on my 01 4x4 the top you do have to replace the whole thing but bottom is just the ball joint

You can get the lower ball joints at autozone.

Haynes, as usual, is wrong. As others have said, you can replace the lower joint without replacing the arm. My brother did that to his 1999 and the Trac is the same.
