I am a former KC resident up until a year or so ago. I still kind of miss it.
A nice drive in the spring is in the Flint Hills of Kansas. We used to go out by the Paxico and Alma area around those hills when everything is greening up. It is beutiful and relaxing. The roads are little more than dirt and rock so driving can be fun.
