I would say the VW would cost more to insure.



It's newer, and the GTI version is performance oriented.

I'm betting on the Evo as the higher of the two.

They base the cost of insurance on many different factors, your best bet is to call and get quotes on the two and see which comes out cheaper.



An example of how some of the pricing doesn't make sense, an 08 F150 SCrew FX4 and the 08 F150 SCrew King Ranch, both 4x4, the King Ranch is the top trim model, and it is cheaper to insure than the lower FX4 model.

Geico, progressive, and many other insurance companies have online access to get rate quotes.



Honestly, either car will be higher to insure than it is worth. If you are considering a new car t save gas, you may want to consider something a little less sporty with 4 doors. (Yes, I know the Evo is 4 doors, that is why I said "Less sporty".)
