probably some truth to the article and marketing BS as well thrown in, as stated, jobs in the US have been lost due to production being moved overseas for lower production costs, guess its one of those "buyer beware/informed" issues.
 
Reading deep into the article, seems the tires manufactured in China are primarily low end "affordable/budget" models regardless of brand, including Michelin and Pirelli.

Quote from the article: "But with tires, as with many other products, it's buyer beware - you get what you pay for." Think I've heard that before, more than once. ;)
