I just got a questionaire from my insurance carrier. They want my odometer readings again. They ask every year or so. I have four vehicles. Two of which are presently uninsured. I pay a small fee to allow me to insure them again at a later date (I know) The other two we drive with full coverage.

The insured vehicles are a 2001 Sport trac, my wifes car, and my 2003 Ranger that I drive.

Here's the break down.

1. 72 Chev pu. Licenced as a collector vehicle. 12 miles since 2003 2. 78 Granada Licenced as a collector vehicle. 455 miles since 2003. 3. 2001 Sport Trac 10476 miles since 2003 4. 2003 Ranger 38652 miles since 2005. We bought and have owned each since new.

Our ages are 64/63 and we are retired. As you can see we don't drive a awful lot. Mostly to the doctor and grocery store, which is around 40 to 50 miles round trip. We have no tickets and one accident on the Ranger in 2004, if I remember correctly. The insurance forgave us that accident if we remained accident free, which we have. I also increased the deductible on the Ranger to $500.00. The Sport Trac is at $250.00

My question is am I nuts to think my insurance should be less than last years premium of $675.00?

What are others paying? When should I drop the full coverage? I seem to recall that I had to maintain full coverage on at least one vehicle to continue with this insurance company. With this economy I am exspecting a big hit this year when the premiums come due.

So what do you think am I nuts or what. Thanks.

Oh boy, this thread is gonna be good. Here in the heart of New Jersey, I have two new vehicles, a 2006 Mustang GT convertible and a 2008 Sport Trac Limited. My total annual premium for both is just over $2100/year. No accidents, tickets and a "fifth tier" rating. We have a $500 deductable on each car for collision and a $100 deductable for comprehensive coverage(broken glass, theft of contents, door dings, etc).

So, if any of you still has a heart, please don't piss me off with your $200/year policies.

I have two vehicles, three life insurance policies (one for each of us), and homeowner's with State Farm. My wife and I are in our mid-late thirties with a 12 year old child. We are paying about $315 a month for that and that's with full coverage on both the Trac and her Expedition. Of course, that's in Texas....

A few OT questions about the Granada...2-door or 4? I-6 or V-8? I had a 79 4-door with the 250 straight in it. That was one bulletproof car! It was my first car (at 17) and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't tear it up! Wish I could find a 2-door ESS to restore!

I'm in Long Island, mid 40's, clean record, '01 2dr Sport, full coverage; a mere $1500/yr. Going to sign up for a defensive driving class. Considering age, where you live, history etc., that does'nt sound that bad, IMO. You could always shop around for quotes. In this economy I'm sure you can find some competition. Good luck, Mike

Insurnace premiums are all relative to where you live. Is that $675 for a year or 6 months?...if it is for 6 months, I would consider that high.

Also shop around...call all the big companies and get a quote. Also I have never had my insurance company send me a form or ask me the mileage of my vehicles...nor would I ever give them that information. If they said it was required I would switch to another company.

Remember...the day you drop full coverage will be the day an illegal alien runs into you with a dump truck.

I pay $664 a year on my ST. That's with $500 deductible on collision and $0 deductible on comprehensive.

$2054.00 a year full coverage on 2 vehicles 2005 nissan pathfinder(fully loaded),2001 sport trac. $250 collision,$0 deductable on comp. in houston ,texas.

( amica insurance)

live in ny 47-48 weeks of the year. for a 08 escape, 03 nissan 350Z, and 06 scion xb we pay $1,210. per year. all are registered in florida with $500 deductible. we both have excellent driving records and none of the vehicles are driven more then 5K a year.

our 1988 vette and fiero are insured thru a collectible insurance, both are $700.00 annually.

i would insure the chev and granada thru a collectible insurance company and leave the others with tradititional insurance. we have allstate and they take into consideration miles driven and type of use, pleasure or drive to and from work. i would make sure that you communicate the type and mileage you drive. also you may be able to get a multi-policy discount if you link your homeowners to the same account.

good luck
