but they have a different mentality from the U.S. union worker. they work hard and don't take their job's for granted.

Are you generalizing or are you just making stuff up?

Tom

What is the difference between generalizing and making stuff up?

I don't really agree with Gary S's assessment of workers in Poland. There are some who still hold on to the old Socialist/hardcore union way of thinking about work, but they are a dying breed.

The governments here are pretty lean, and focus mostly on infrastructure and security issues. There isn't enough money for social programs. So lacking any real government handouts, people survive on their own efforts. When they become too old, then their children support them.

That sounds a lot like America before the advent of big government and entitlements. Basically before FDR's New Deal, and LBJ's Great Society.

the media is also playing into this and that does not help.

The media sucks, they couldn't tell the truth if their life depended on it. They will just spin it whatever way will provide them the greatest marketing revenue. Today's media wants to be the news, not deliver the news...

The sad thing for most market investors is that it may take yrs to get back to SQ one.

You have lost capital, that is not generating one penny.

If your young < 40 yrs old, maybe you can recoup down the road.

The stock market in todays world is not the end all be all that your lead to belive.

Your finacial advisors, your Brokers, make there living off of YOU, not the market,

Be carefull in what they tell you to do.

One other thing to consider in these times is, how is this bailout going to be paid for?

By tax increases, Big time tax increases, so down the road you make a couple hun thou in the stock market, consider your capital gains tax, both state and federal.

In my state the combined state and fed is 21% 1/5 of your gain.

After the upcoming election, the fed rate may increase dramatically

These new guys will have bills to pay, will be coming out of your pockets, good luck.
