Aloha, I think that I need an ignition switch. It is very often hard to turn the key to start and hard to get the key out. Rock Auto shows a sw with keys. Wont that make the door key a second key?

Ebay has a cylinder replacement kit. Isn't the reason the key is hard to turn is that only the cylinder is worn? Am I missing something?

Try making a copy of the key???

Also if you change the assembly you MUST program the computer with the new keys, since the lock will be new its going to be a pain, Dealer will have to do it.

Thanks Tod, I just ordered 2 uncut keys for my Sportrack. If I have them copied, won't I just be copying the ware of the old ones? I have two keys that work (poorly) so I can program the new ones.

IF you know the key code you can have a good locksmith cut them as new.....

All depends what you can find.....

IF not yes there is a chance the worn key will only copy worn to the new one.
