Okay, I'm confused... please forgive me if this is a "duh" question. I'm kinda new at this stuff, so it's entirely possible I'm about to make a fool of myself...

I'm trying to track down the right IAC for my truck, an '02 ST made in May of that year.

According to the Motorcraft site, there are two possible IACs for the '02... CX2065 and CX1771. I tried looking around on the 'Net for pics of these items. They look entirely different from one another. CX1771 looks most like the one on my truck, but the sensor plug appears to point towards the passenger side, where as the one in my truck points towards the driver's side. The pictures I found of the CX2065 look nothing like the IAC on my truck.

Any parts specialists out there who can shead some light on this? Any guidance is much appreciated! :)

If you would, post up the casting number that is on your IAC. That is the best way to get the correct part when there is an issue like this.

A guy in the Parts Dept. at a dealer here in my area said to go take the thing off and look it over for a long part number. I did so, and found this imprinted on the plastic collar:

1L5E-9F715-AB

Which corresponds to the CX2065, not the CX1771. Unfortunately, the CX2065 is two to three times more expensive than the CX1771... :(

The cheapest one I found was right around $90 w/shipping, from rockauto.com.

Yeah. The MSRP from Ford is about $125. The price you found it for is pretty close to wholesale. Is the one you found at rockauto.com a Motorcraft part?

Yep, sure is...

They also had another brand (Airtex) that was about $11 cheaper, but I'd feel better going with the OEM part for that small of a price difference.

Chris, I wouldnt hesitate buying aftermarket parts from Airtex. They have been in bussiness for 40 or 50 yrs. I dont know about nowdays but there parts were USA made.
