Hose from rear axle

I need help........I have a 2002 Trac and have found a hose hanging from the top of the driver side rear axle. I cannot find where it goes even though it is only about 2 feet long (its about a half inch black hose). Does anyone have an idea ?

Make the axle vent hose is clear of debris before refastening.

Must be a common wear problem. I found the same vent hose broken on my 2002 about 7,000 miles ago.
