Well written. Very few would go the extra mile to figure it out. Nice job!!!

I would probably laugh at a tech who told me that "a wire shorted out INSIDE your trans"..

Until today anyway

Once he explained it, I would probably christen him The Greatest Troubleshooter Ever.

Dale, it is not that uncommon. The overdrive solenoid on the older front wheel drive GM's use to short out all the time as the wireharness would rub against it and short it out...(On the inside of the tranny).

Fortunately, I have enough mechanical knowledge to listen to an explanation and determine if the tech is BS'ing or not. I moved to Atlanta last year and had to find a tech for my business vehicles. The first few times I took vehicles to them, I acted like I didn't know beans about vehicles ("Brake caliper?? Idler pulley, what is that?"). They gave me GREAT advice. It also seems that shops start taking my business for granted after a few jobs, but that hasn't happened with these guys.
