2007 sport trac, at higher speeds with head wind there is a noise in the windshield area that sounds like holding a reed in the wind, very much effected by wind direction or like passing a semi with a lot of air being diverted.

May be the wipers, see in they are vibrating when you hear it.

Your windshield cowl may be cracked.

HI Lou,
we think your advice is correct however its been to cold to check. will advise once weather warms a bit. (garage is not heated)
