Hey Coastie, sorry to bug you but you seem to be the guy thats "been know to locate things from time to time"! 
This is a major deal here my friend is in dire need of a very important part for his 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Without it he is certain to be driven crazy it seems!!
He is looking for the balance control knob on his factory stereo! hahah
Seriously though, I have the one he is trying to replace and it split in half right down the middle. I can take a pic and post it for you later tonight if you need to see it. I don't even know if you can find something this little or not? On his factory stereo there are two of these little buggers, balance & fade. There about a half inch long and 1/4" wide and slide down on the adjustment post. They are both identical, he says the interior and stereo options haven't changed much for the surrounding years of Jeeps and the knobs are the same!
Let me know if its something you can get ahold of and at what cost?
