Its been a while since I've made a post so i thought that it was about time. I've found that the stock headlights aren't perforfing to what I would like them to, and I would like to replace them with new ones. How should I go about this? Should I just get new bulbs, or should I get new lights as a whole? Any recomendations, brands, and prices would be appreciated.

Silver stars are good. I have 100 watt Pia Xtreme Whites with a harness upgrade. Also replaced the whole assem. with the black headlights. The difference is in the bulb itself not the whole light.

you just need the bulbs which 9007, as long as the are both working i dont think youll see a noticable difference though. just my .02

Contrary to what some folks say, the Silverstar bulbs do last quite a long time. The 9006's in my Toyota were installed in May 2003, and I finally had the last one burn out today. My car has DRL's, so the low beams are on constantly.

I'm very happy with the longevity and performance of the Silverstar bulbs.

I have SilverStars in my headlights, front turn signals, and fog lights and am very happy with them.

I guess it matters what you compare against. The OEM bulbs on my 1991 Corolla never burned out. When I rolled it in Feb 2000 in the Azores, Portugal, the vehicle had all original bulbs, except for the lamp for the license plate. The vehicle had 97,000 miles, including some very rough miles on the roads of Turkey. That car was the most dependable vehicle I ever owned.

I love my Silverstar headlights. I'd use them even if I had to replace them yearly. :)

Nelson,

I still had the original bulbs in my 1992 Escort when I took it off the road with 10 years of service.

Neither Ford or Toyota makes light bulbs. They buy them from a bulb maker, like Sylvania, GE, etc. and installs them in the vehicle. The bulb is only as good as the one that made it.

as an add to tom's message.. remember that one that made the bulb was the low bidder. LOL.. actually, I've not had many OEM bulbs go out unless you measure the time in years. However, the Silver Stars are so much better than OEM, I would replace them whenever.. yearly, as someone said above.

Hey dumb question. I want to replace the turn signals, but i cant seem to get the side markers out. How do i replace these bulbs? Thanks.

Here's a project on how to replace the corner lenses to clear corners, exact same process to get the side markers off. It's pretty self explanatory after that.
