The problem may have been a credit issue. With credit money tight, who is going to loan you $25K for a $19K Explorer?



Yes, that was easy to do a few years ago, but the credit crunch has turned off many lenders to jumping on that kind of a deal. Remember that was the same problem that put the realestate markets in the toilet about a year ago and lead to all the forclosures.

A little advice from someone who once sold cars...Never buy a vehicle based on a fixed/limited monthly payment. That's how so many people get stuck with an upsidedown loan.



There is always a dealer who will make a deal that fits your monthlt payment budget, but you will end up paying a higher interest for a longer period of time and you generally startout with an upsidedown loan and gets worse each year.



Once you get into an upsidedown loan, it's very difficult to get out until the loand is nearly paid off.
