Gen 1 speaker size and amp question

Hey everyone! I just put in a clarion cz500 head unit, got a refurbished kenwood amp and an mtx 5500 10" sub in an under seat box. Spent 5 hours hooking it up (first time doing this) and the sub doesn't work, all the time. It shows that power to the amp is inconsistant, but both my ground, and battery wire are connected nice. My ground is on a sanded down portion of the frame, and secured good. So I'm guessing my amp is junk?



2nd, what size r the speakers? I remember hearing 6X9 but wanna be sure.

6x8 which is a weird size, most 5x7's have mounting holes to fit 6x8 holes. Or you can maybe use trim plates and fit 6x9's or trim out some of the metal and fit them.



As far as the amp goes hard to say over the internet.. double check all your wiring and make sure it's not grounding out on something. Does it just cut off for no reason? or is it after playing for awhile?

Check your remote wire. Make sure you are using the right one from the radio.
