I removed my spare tire as to save weight and hence save gas. After inspecting what was under the tire I noticed a rubber tube marked gas line. My question is, do i run a risk of causing damage to the gas line since there is no spare tire to cover it?

FYI:

Removing the spare tire with the extension to reach the crane rubs against the cargo door and rubs the paint off.

And yes i did buy a sealing kit with a pump in case of an emergency.

the only thing with not running a spare tire. there is no weight on the cable system that holds the tire and it will damage it. i damaged mine before. hopefully it was just mine. i live in jacksonville,fl i will run a spare tire just in case i already has one flat on the st living here.

just my two cents.

No spare. You will not see any mpg gain, truth. Only change will be you might get stranded.

Driving style will be the best thing for gain.

As far as weight goes You need to loose several hundred pounds, for a difference. Then you might see 1.5mpg if you drive easy. Keeping rpms below 2500.
