Just finished putting on the new thermostat housing, filled up with coolant and started up to test for leaks. Well no leaks so far....But I did notice something I had never before. I heard a clicking about every 5 seconds or so. Checking it out I find it was coming from the alternator. I noticed this alternator had some sort of "clutch" like mechanics that would cause the center to stop even tho the pulley was spinning....

Is this normal? And what is the purpose?

thanks!

Glad you found the leak and got it fixed. Wasn't the short water pump bypass hose fun? LOL

Oh - there were many points of "fun". I also replaced the rad hoses while in there. I was very fond of the upper clamp (sqeeze type) on the lower hose when putting the new one on. I gave up and put the screw type on........

It could be AC compressor - what do I know? LOL
