Front Dome lights

I own a 2004 xlt and wanted to change out the front dome light bulbs. I know that the bulbs are 921 but is there any way to replace the bulb without replacing the base unit it sits in? Or does the base unit have to be placed when the bulb gets replaced. I wanted to replace the stock 921 bulb with a aftermarket 921 bulb. I have seen the project on it but that only talks about the back set, not the front.

Yes. Get some wire cutters and cut the wires coming out the bottom of the bulb (or melt the solder if you're so inclined). Pull the wire leads straight, and you should be able to pull the bulb out of the socket. Then, with the new bulb, you have to unfold the wire leads at the bottom, and run them the same way as the stock leads on the bulbs.
